I need a NEW Sales Status. Is this something the home office has to do?

The quick answer to this is NO, any FCOS user with Franchisee level access and above (i.e. Franchisor and Broker/Czar) can create custom Sales Statuses. 

Your Sales Statuses can be found by expanding the Settings menu and clicking on the Sales Statues option. The rest of the options from this menu WILL differ depending on your access.
